   PORTRAITS

CUSTOM ART BY COMMISSION

Celebrate a personal hero. Memorialize a family member. Honor someone in your life.

Portraits are among the most special ways to celebrate a person.

Whether you're reimagining an antique photograph or creating something brand new, I'll create something special...one of a kind!

Final digital portraits can be printed as archival giclée paper prints or on a stretch canvas.*

*Printing options will impact the commission fee, to be discussed when we beging.

It all begins with your loved one, pet, personal hero or . . . yourself! This artwork is about breathing new life into familiar images, faces, and personalities.

  • 2

For a digital collage piece, you’ll provide the image or images that we are reimagining, the image that is central to the portrait. And together, we’ll plan a direction for the new piece.

For an illustrated portrait, we’ll discuss the general direction. You’ll supply reference photos and materials, color swatches, etc. for me to consider while creating the art.

  • 3

I’ll take it from there, combining your images and thoughts with my own additions of ephemera from public domain resources and/or my own original art elements. You’ll see and approve a rough sketch prior to my finishing your art.

Combining your photo with a world of images and digital artifacts to best tell a story.

Illustration

From a blank “page”, I’ll shape the image that portrays the spirit and character of the subject.

  • It’s pretty simple, really. Let’s talk about who you want to celebrate, what you appreciate about them, and what style of portrait you’re interested in. From there, we’ll talk about what imagery you can supply photo(s) to be the centerpiece of the collage or images to serve as references for a newly illustrated piece. We’ll also talk about your options for the printed piece, high quality archival paper print or a stretched canvas ready for hanging.

Then, I’ll rough out a “pencil sketch” for you so you can approve the concept.

I’ll take it from there and create the finished piece!

  • Isn’t this always a tricky topic? The best answer I can offer is that it depends on the intricacy of the portrait that you’re wanting to create. But, we’ll certainly settle on a cost prior to starting. No surprises!

Outside of the commission fee associated with the actual art creation, we’ll discuss (at the beginning of the process) what type of print (digitally printed paper or stretched canvas).

One final factor will of course be delivery method or pickup here at the studio in Lowell, MA. Again, we’ll settle all of these details at the beginning of the process so that you’re comfortable with the cost.

  • Giclée ( Gee’clay) is a French term meaning to spray or squirt. Prints are made on a high end inkjet printer. This is not the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer, and is much larger and more detailed. Giclée is the best way to produce archival reproductions of your fine art.

  • This will vary depending upon the intricacy of the portrait. The starting point is 4-5 weeks. This includes the printing time.

  • I accept Venmo, Apple Pay, Square (MC, VISA, AMEX), and personal checks (in person or prior to shipment).
