The insanely cool KidLit community is always looking out for and supporting each other. In recent months, #KidLitPostcard on Twitter has been a sweet way to showcase each other’s art! Here’s my latest “postcard”.

This was super fun. Working with the great minds at duopress Publisher and Production team, I had a hand in creating the concept and template-building for the special features in this book. As if that wasn’t enough fun, I also designed and illustrated the book!

Oh, did I mention the book trailer? Very cool experience taking this book and setting it in motion!

This past Fall brought a very cool, and unexpected and insanely fun opportunity. Husband and I launched VitalSaenz, a grassroots theater and live event production company dedicated to bringing theater that may not otherwise happen to spaces and places that may not otherwise see live performances like this. Our inaugural show, A Crime in a Madhouse, is a classic Grand Gignol piece that celebrates creepy asylums from a lost age.

For the launch, I created a creepy arsenal of print, digital and video work to get the word out!

Mmmmm…Cheese.

The existence of cheese is central to my very happiness. Obviously, designing this book written by the mongers at the first Brooklyn cheese shop I frequented was a dream! Really, when I moved to Brooklyn about 17 years ago The Bedford Cheese Shop was the place to be if your were in it for a smooth triple cream or the stinkiest of blues! This magical spot was walking distance from our apartment. Trust me, cheese happened . . . a lot!

With the growing support of the “Don’t Say Gay” legislation, our country is becoming an increasingly hostile environment for LGBTQ+ children. As a children's publishing professional, I pledge to continue to bring more inclusion of all types of children and families into my stories and art. #DontSayGay legislation demonizes children. Let’s show them that there is love and a place for them in the world.
