Taking control by giving up some control. The most important lesson I am teaching myself lately is to loosen up. Stop with the “perfect”. Cut the nonsense with the “It isn’t quite right.” Stop scrutinizing and have fun. What feels right to me will make it happen. (Even if I’m the only one that likes it. ha!)  I’m teaching myself to let go a bit. Surprising this is giving me a better sense of what I do as an illustrator. (As a control freak, this makes makes so much sense.) I’ll never lock myself into a style or two. I can always try things and have fun. But as a new illustrator, it’s important to let my creative instincts take the wheel.  Loosen up, Palin. Have some damn fun!
