So, michael and I snuck out for a late brunch at La Esquina on Wythe in Williamsburg, Brooklyn…just a couple blocks from home base. This used to be the home of Relish Diner. Relish was a kitsch diner in the burgs which is much improved after its makeover as a diner style Mexican restaurant. FANTASTIC food.
Anyway, when you enter the joint, there’s a rack of magazines that you can bring to your table while you eat your food (in my case poached eggs with chorizo, bacon and a Corona).
Flipping through a Vanity Fair magazine, I kept stopping on this page. I have a design-crush on this page. The fonts, colors and photos create ‘awesomeness’. what you can’t see from this photo is the hairline halo around each letter in “FANFAIR” that adds this cool modern vibration around the decidedly art typeface choice. awesome…it’s an industry term.
